Jump Start Your Career at Seattle, Bothell Events This January

Alumni considering everything from initial career options to a mid-career change are invited to attend Career Discovery Week, which will be held Jan. 26-30 on the UW Seattle and Bothell campuses.

Career Discovery Week features more than 50 panel presentations, workshops and special events for alumni and UW students to learn about academic paths and career alternatives. Participants will hear inspirational stories and advice from alumni and local professionals to help them move toward a meaningful and satisfying career, says Husky Career Advantage Manager Don Gallagher.

Those new to the job market should attend sessions in their career fields. Alumni exploring a career transition should attend the special presentation on that topic.

Alumni and friends can also volunteer during Career Discovery Week. One option is to participate as a panelist; another is to serve as a table host for Husky Career Lunch on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the HUB Ballroom. The UWAA groups participants in more than 25 occupational fields. The conversation at each table is led by UW alumni and friends who share their expertise with participating students.

Career Discovery Week, now in its fifth year, was named an Outstanding Institutional Advising Program Award winner by the National Academic Advising Association. It is presented by the UW Alumni Association, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Center for Career Services and more than 25 participating campus partners. Corporate sponsors for the 2004 event include University Book Store, Kaplan and UPS.
