Neal Fosseen, '30, Spokane, received the 1995 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Air Mobility Command for his continued support of the men and women of Fairchild Air Force Base.
William Sweet, '30, Rio de Janiero, Brazil, graduated from Harvard Business School in 1932 and worked in Washington, D.C., New York and Pittsburgh before going to Brazil in 1942 as part of the Joint Brazil-U.S. Military Commission. He was president of the Brazilian subsidiary of Liquid Carbonic for 20 years. Now he owns two Coca-Cola franchises.
Robert McCament, '33, Ventura, Calif., and his wife sold their home in Glendale, Calif., and moved into a retirement home in Ventura, where they have a two-bedroom cottage.
Negley England, '35, Jackson, Miss., is retired from the Navy Reserve, United Technologies and England's Sailboats Co. He has two sons, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Clinton Corliss, '37, Spokane, and his wife
Elizabeth, '34, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in
September. They have raised three daughters and have seven grandchildren. Their
oldest granddaughter graduated from the UW School of Medicine in 1993.

Shirley Familian, '42, Los Angeles, received the Elaine Peterson Special Achievement Award for her outstanding volunteer contributions to public broadcasting. The National Friends of Public Broadcasting presented the award.
Richard Scherrer, '42, Nordland, received the 1995 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the UW Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics for his contributions to the field of aerodynamics. He designed the XST airplane, the predecessor of the F-117A stealth fighter and the B-2 stealth bomber.

W.A. Pete Withers, '50, Martinez, Calif., writes to say he and his wife have 14 grandchildren. "The '50s were spent in the service, the '60s working in New Orleans, the '70s working in San Francisco, the '80s working on retirement plans and now, in the '90s, enjoying being retired," he says.
Richard M. Philips Sr., '51, Yakima, and his wife, Patricia, '72, have a new granddaughter, Colleen Michelle Devine.
Clayton Bradshaw, '52, Lyndhurst, Ohio, and his wife, Lois, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in September. Their two daughters from Minnesota and California will join them.
Art Victor, '53, Jonesboro, Ga., retired from his Army civil service job in February and is moving back to San Antonio after a 3 1/2-year absence to be near family.
Jack Hupp, '54, Columbia, S.C., retired in 1992 after a career in the insurance business.
Marilyn Rogers, '54, Renton, enjoyed a career of teaching physical education in public schools and summer travel to Europe. Now retired, she enjoys sports activities and is president of the Jet Cities Sweet Adelines chorus.
Lawrence Bailey, '55, Seattle, and his wife Maxine, '67, have retired from careers as an airline captain and a dental hygienist, respectively. Since May 1992, they have been cruising on their sailboat Shingebiss II.
Richard Komen, '55, Seattle, was named to the advisory council to the board of directors of Uwajimaya, a Seattle distributor, manufacturer and importer of Asian products.

John Kays, '56, Sequim, and his wife, Darlene, '54, have two children and two grandchildren. John got his master's from the Univ. of Oregon after 34 years of teaching, and is an immigration inspector at Port Angeles. Darlene retired from teaching in June.
Marjorie Palmer Passler, '56, Bellevue, is a member of the Garfield Golden Grads, an organization that formed in 1988 and has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to Garfield High School. At the group's eighth annual luncheon in June, she made presentations honoring the late Robert Waldo, '46, a former UW administrator, and A.L. Schmalle, a Garfield chemistry teacher.
Janet Brandt, '58, Kirkland, was appointed chair of the Columns Advisory Committee. Brandt recently retired as managing editor of the Tacoma News Tribune. She succeeds Jim King, '48, former executive editor of the Seattle Times, who was chair for two years.
Donald Rogers, '58, Anchorage, Alaska, retired last December after 28 years as an Alaska state medical examiner.
Daniel Sandberg, '58, Sacramento, Calif., moved to California after graduation and has practiced law in Sacramento for more than 30 years.
Thordis Harden, '59, Hixson, Tenn., retired after 30 years as executive director of the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Regional Planning Committee.
Preston Thomas, '59, Sunriver, Ore., and his family returned to

Robert L. Bailey, '61, Singapore, is vice president of the records management group at Transnational Company Private Ltd. He is responsible for new records management and product and service development in 20 countries.
Tomio Moriguchi, '61, Seattle, was elected to the new position of chairman of the board and CEO of Uwajimaya, one of the West Coast's largest importers, manufacturers and distributors of Asian products.
Becky Sisley, '61, Eugene, Ore., received the 1995 Honor Award from the National Association for Girls and Women in Sports. She is a physical education professor at the Univ. of Oregon.
Fred Hilpert, '62, Riverbank, Calif., is chairman of communication studies at California State Univ., Stanislaus.
Jodene Scaylea Hawkins, '65, Silverdale, graduated from seminary in 1990 and is the rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Seattle.

David W. Becker Jr., '68, Twin Falls, Idaho, was promoted to colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in April. He was also elected to membership in the Society of Medical Consultants to the Armed Forces.

Heather Doran Barbieri, '85, Seattle, has a short story, "Spirit Tree," in the Left Bank #8: Pursuit of Happiness anthology. Another story, "Vessel," was a winner in the 1995 Ian St. James Awards, an international competition based in England. David R. King, '90, Williamsburg, Va., was promoted to commander in the Coast Guard. He was transferred from Alaska to the Coast Guard training center in Yorktown, Va., where he serves as the comptroller.

Chris McLain, '95, Portland, Ore., received the Dr. Walter F. Hiltner Memorial Award from the UW Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics for his creativity, scholarship and leadership. Hiltner, a Boeing space scientist who died in 1966, graduated from the UW in 1934 and was a member of the engineering faculty in the 1940s.
