Mellow Yellow: fiberglass tricycle

Statistics graduate student Adam Karp, '98, catches a lot of attention in his $8,250 human-powered, 21-speed tricycle. The fiberglass shell vehicle includes a stereo system, cell phone, trunk and 12-volt rechargeable battery. Karp commutes 12 miles each way to the UW in his Danish-made Leitra and thinks more Americans should give up their cars for pedal power. Photo by Jon Marmor.
