Huskies Head for Holiday Bowl

After a victory over WSU in the Apple Cup Nov. 20, the UW football team's postseason destination is San Diego and the Holiday Bowl held Dec. 29.

The UW will meet a team from the Big 12 Conference. The game starts at 5 p.m. Pacific Time and will be broadcast by ESPN.

Few expected the 1999 team to finish with a 7-4 record. After the Huskies replaced Jim Lambright with Coach Rick Neuheisel in January, most fans expected a transition year. The Pac-10 sportswriters picked the UW to finish sixth in the conference.

The Huskies surprised everyone but themselves. Led by quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, the team upset favorites such as Stanford, Arizona and Colorado.

As a service to alumni, the UW Alumni Association will be offering its members a bowl game package including transportation from Seattle, lodging and admission to pre-game events. All alumni and fans are invited to a pre-game Washington Warm Up rally starting three hours prior to kickoff at a site adjacent to the bowl stadium.

For more information, call toll-free 1-877-WIN-BOWL. Bowl game updates will be posted on the UW Alumni Association Home Page.
