History Professor Emeritus Jon Bridgman returns this fall to give a lecture series on the history of the University of Washington in conjunction with a special exhibit on the history of the UW at Suzzallo Library.
Bridgman, who for decades presented the UWAA History Lecture Series until his retirement two years ago, returns for a special five-part lecture series beginning in September. In this series, he will share stories of the students' lives, the social atmosphere and the visionaries leading the UW-just to name a few topics.
Also during the fall quarter, a special exhibit on the history of the UW will be on display at Suzzallo Library. Included in this exhibit will be memorabilia supplied by alumni. Included are written memories of student experiences while attending the University of Washington. These memories go back into the 1920s, and are a wonderful glimpse into the lives of our alumni, as well as a way to view different times in our history.
The UW 2004 Fall Lecture series will be held in Kane 130 on Sept. 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2004 beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event will go on sale in late June. Bridgman's previous lectures have sold out, and this special event is expected to also sell out quickly. Visit UWalum.com for more information. Alumni are invited to share special memories of the time spent at the UW. Selected submissions of defining moments will be displayed in the Suzzallo exhibit, some will be selected for the December issue of Columns and we will have a Web site for these special memories.
