Panel Seeks New VP for Alumni, Gifts

Dentistry Dean Paul Robertson is heading a 15-member search committee appointed by President Richard L. McCormick to help find a new UW vice president of development and alumni relations.

Former Vice President for Development Marilyn Dunn left the UW to head the U.S. Olympic Committee's fund-raising efforts Nov. 1. When the position became open, President McCormick decided to expand its responsibilities to include the University's alumni relations efforts, which had previously been under the vice president for university relations.

The panel has advertised the opening in the Chronicle of Higher Education and the Chronicle of Philanthropy and is currently accepting résumés, says Robertson. He hopes to have names to forward to the President by the end of spring.

In addition to Robertson, members of the search committee include: Development Assistant Vice President Lynne Becker, UW Foundation Board Member Susan Brotman, UWAA Executive Director David Fagerlie, Seattle Foundation President Anne Farrell, Regent Gerald Grinstein, Dean of Arts and Sciences David Hodge, UW Foundation Board Member George Hutchinson, Minority Community Advisory Committee Member Vivian Lee, Director of Gift Planning Marilyn Montgomery, Vice Provost for Planning and Budgeting Harlan Patterson, College of Education Graduate Student Terryl Ross, UWAA President Geoff Vernon, Slavic Languages and Literature Professor James West and Neurological Surgery Chair H. Richard Winn.
