Coaches Tour Gives Alumni Chance to Meet the Huskies

When it comes to spring traditions in the Northwest, April brings the blossoming of the spectacular tulip and daffodil fields in the Skagit Valley. May means the arrival of Coaches Tour for alumni and friends of the UW.

Coaches Tour, now in its 34th year, is an annual golf and dinner event featuring UW coaches and alumni leaders that will visit eight locations through Washington and Oregon in May and June.

Head Football Coach Keith Gilbertson headlines the coaches from various Husky sports who will be at each tour stop. Depending on the date, participants can also meet the "voice of the Huskies," radio announcer Bob Rondeau; UWAA Executive Director John Buller, '69, '71; and other UW personalities.

In addition to giving alumni and friends of the UW a chance to connect with each other and get the inside scoop from Husky sports coaches, Coaches Tour is also a major fund-raiser for regional UW scholarships. Last year's Coaches Tour raised $49,000, and this year's goal is $50,000 for regional scholarships.

This year's Coaches Tour schedule:

May 10: Spokane, Manito Golf & Country Club

May 11: Yakima, Apple Tree Golf Course

May 20: Port Orchard, McCormick Woods Golf Course

May 24: Everett, Everett Golf & Country Club

May 27: Bellingham, Bellingham Country Club

June 1: Portland, Langdon Farms Golf Club

June 7: Tacoma, Tacoma Country & Golf Club
