UW Experts Predict Future Trends in New Millennium

The 21st century is just months away, bringing a blend of hope, mystery and excitement along with it. What will life be like once the millennium arrives? What can we expect in our schools, our economy, our way of life?

You can get a head start by hearing what a few University of Washington experts have to say in the UWAA Spring Lecture Series, "The Next Millennium: What Are We in For?"

The lectures will be held the evenings of April 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 7 p.m. in A118 Physics/Astronomy. Sociology Professor George Bridges will speak April 7 on social trends in the next century. The following week, Economics Professor Charles Nelson will address the economic outlook and what lies ahead in the job market and beyond. Allen Glenn, dean of the UW College of Education, will talk about changes we may expect in public education on April 21. And Seattle Mayor Paul Schell, a former dean of the UW College of Architecture and Urban Planning, will talk about the way the future will shape the lives of our cities on April 28.

Cost of the series is $21 for UWAA members, $25 non-member and 415 for students. Individual tickets may be available at the door for $21 for members, $25 for non-members, and $15 for students.
