A Half-Century of Change: Class of '52 Celebrates 50-Year Reunion

Fifty years ago, the world was a very different place. The Korean War was raging. Cecil B. DeMille's The Greatest Show on Earth won the Academy Award for best picture. Richard Nixon made his infamous "Checkers" speech and Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected president.

On campus, the medical school was in its early years and the HUB was finally completed.

Students from the Class of 1952 are invited to relive those memories and renew acquaintances during Homecoming Week. The class will hold its 50th reunion on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.

The schedule of events:

Friday, Nov. 1
1:30 p.m. A review of the changes on campus over the past 50 years. Kane Hall's Walker-Ames Room.
3 p.m. Campus tour
6 p.m. Reception, Mary Gates Commons (old Physics Building)
7 p.m. Dinner and program, Mary Gates Commons

Saturday, Nov. 2
Husky Cruise before UW-UCLA football game. Includes breakfast buffet at McCormick & Schmick's restaurant at Lake Union, roundtrip to Husky Stadium, and game tickets. Operated by Power Tours.
