Find Your Buddies in Three Easy Steps

One of the most frequent requests for information at the UWAA is for help in finding a college friend. Now UWAA members have an online search tool to help find old friends and to make themselves more accessible to friends looking for them. Launched this summer, the UW Alumni Online Directory is available to all UWAA members.

To protect your privacy, the directory is set up to display limited information (your name, home town and degree), unless you choose to provide more information. Since the site was launched, more than 1,000 alumni have updated their information and given permission for UWAA members to access it.

Here's how to use the online directory:
1. Go to UW Alumni Directory and log in, using your UWNet ID. If you don't have an ID, you can set one up from this page.
2. Update your contact information. You can choose whether your home and work address, phone number and e-mail address are visible to other UWAA members.
3. Search for your friends by name, class year, geographic region, sport or Greek affiliation. If you can't remember how to spell the last name, you can enter the first few letters. Maiden names as well as current last names beginning with those letters will come up.

If your friend has not yet updated his or her information, information on the person's town and state, as well as the class year and degree will appear. If your friend has updated the information and chosen to display it, you may see address, phone and email information as well.

The UWAA is also working on a printed directory. Members will receive questionnaires this fall for information to be included in the directory, which will be available in fall 2004. Only members will be listed in the print directory.

In a further expansion of online services, the UWAA career networking service—Career Connections—is also available to UW alumni. To become a career contact or to network with more than a thousand Huskies across the nation, visit Career Connections.

If you're not yet a UWAA member, you can join or renew online.
